THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR SELECTS LAYOUT-8000 AS AD NEW DUMMYING SYSTEMThe Arizona Daily Star, the major morning daily newspaper that serves Tucson and surrounding districts of southern Arizona in the United States, has selected SCS to replace its legacy ad dummying system with Layout-8000™ in 2012. The Arizona Daily Star is, by circulation, the second largest newspaper owned by Lee Enterprises. The Star was in a joint operating agreement with the Tucson Citizen, a smaller paper owned by Gannett, until that paper became online only. Layout-8000™ will import ads for The Star from the Atex/Mactive ad order entry system at The Arizona Republic in Phoenix. Dummied pages will be exported to QPS using the SCS/LinX plug-in. The installation is expected to be complete by July 1, 2012. |

San Francisco Ballet live with FotowareThe San Francisco Ballet is live with Fotoware products to manage all DAM assests. The system includes FotoWeb for sharing of images and documents. FotoStation for work flow and taxonomy, and Index Manager. Fotoware replaces a manual folder based system used to store all images. The selection was made based on ease of use, cost and security requierments. FotoWeb Destop will be used for remote access on the iPad and iPhone. |

MORE GANNETT SITES LIVE WITH LAYOUT-8000
SCS continues its work with Gannett to install Layout-8000™ for its 83 daily and 400+ weekly newspapers. Currently, Layout-8000 is live at 45 sites, including Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers, The News Journal in Pensacola, FL, The Statesman Journal in Salem, OR and The News-Leader in Springfield, MO. The Layout-8000 centralization project will be completed by the end of 2012 |

LAYOUT-8000 CUSTOMERS EXTEND LAYOUT-8000 TO INDESIGN WITH INLAY Four Layout-8000™ sites have extended their pagination options by installing SCS's InLay™ plug-in for InDesign: (1) The Dispatch Printing Co. in Columbus, OH (2) Trinidad Express in Port of Spain, Trinidad
(3) Sing Tao Newspapers in Los Angeles, CA
(4) Tri-City Herald in Kennewick, WA
InLay imports edition designs and ad dummies into InDesign documents and then automatically places ads onto their pages. It is compatible with all versions of InDesign, and is available for PC and Mac.

SCS CUSTOMERS UPGRADE AND ENHANCE SYSTEMSTo date in 2012, ten different publishing companies have contracted with SCS to upgrade and enhance their SCS software. They include The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, VA, The Tribune in La Crosse, WI, The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, LA, The New York Daily News, The Star-Ledger in Newark, NJ and The North County Times in Escondido, CA.
In addition, The Dow Jones Local Media Group, headquartered in New Bedford, MA, has contracted with SCS to integrate its SCS/Track and CAS systems with the soon-to-be-installed display ad order entry system from Atex/Mactive. |
